RYU Apparel Wins WGSN Futures Award for ‘Best Store’
VANCOUVER, June 1, 2016
RYU Apparel Inc., a tailored, technical training brand engineered for the fitness, training and performance of the multi-discipline athlete, is excited to announce it has been named ‘Best Store’ in the 2016 WGSN Futures Awards. Nominated alongside global brands Topshop, Primark and Gentle Monster, the win solidifies RYU’s placement among the most forward-thinking brands in the international fashion market.
The highly coveted ‘Best Store’ category is presented to the store considered to be the best in the world based on product offer, in-store experience, customer service, retail innovation and ability to inspire those who pass through its doors. Recognized not only for a vintage, industrial design that artfully captures the brand’s ‘Beautiful Tough’ mantra, RYU was also commended for its ability to cultivate community within its flagship store through features such as a pop-up nutrition bar and second-floor training facility.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized as a standout retailer on an international level,” said Marcello Leone, CEO of RYU. “Our goal was to create a forward-thinking space that extends beyond just a retail outlet for the community, allowing them not only to shop but also to learn, train, compete and interact with other athletes. Receiving this award signals that we are achieving what we set-out to build.”
Awarded in London on May 26th, 2016, the award was accepted on behalf of RYU by award-winning architect Tony Robins who designed the brand’s flagship store. RYU is currently working on designs for the second brick-and-mortar store set to open in summer 2016.
