Foggan brings more than 25 years of experience handling a wide range of trial and appellate matters involving complex insurance claims, and she is a thought leader in the legal field on insurance matters. She has participated in more than 200 appeals nationwide and has made significant contributions to the development of key insurance law precedents across the United States.

“We are thrilled that Laura is joining Crowell & Moring,” said William C. In addition to her litigation work, Foggan counsels insurers on emerging exposures, currently addressing issues such as cyber risk, privacy and data breach claims, and risks and opportunities relating to the commercial use of unmanned aircraft systems. She has significant experience representing insurer trade groups on a wide variety of issues affecting the business of insurance. On behalf of both individual insurers and industry trade groups, she advocates for insurers in legislative and regulatory matters. Her clients have included: the Complex Insurance Claims Litigation Association, American Insurance Association, National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and Property Casualty Insurers’ Association of America.

“I’m excited to join Crowell & Moring’s distinguished group of lawyers, many of whom I have known and respected for years,” Foggan said. “The firm has a longstanding reputation in the insurance area and for handling complex commercial litigation. It also carries deep capabilities in related practice areas that I will be able to call upon and leverage for clients in the insurance space.”

Foggan is the former co-chair of the American Bars Association’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, the founding co-chair of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia’s Insurance Law Forum, and a founding member of the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute.
